Despite what many people say, it is possible to install Mac OS X on a AMD machine. Not only distros, but vanilla versions of OS X. This is a guide on how to install OS X on AMD processors.
This is a pretty universal guide, you could even follow this if you have an Intel CPU, just don’t change the kernel on Intel.First, you need to get the Pandora’s Box utility from the insanleymac forum. DO NOT USE UNIBEAST!!!
Next you need to open the application and choose you volume that you want to turn into the installer, the Install OS X app or.dmg, your bootloader, and your custom kernel. AMD kernels for the latest versions or Snow Leopard to El Capitan can be found here: The installer does not put in the “FakeSMC.kext” for you. You have to put it in the “System/Library/Extensions” directory yourself.
Kext download:Before you boot into your installer, make sure your hard drive type is set to “AHCI” in your BIOS. Now, put your installer into your Hackintosh and make sure you are booting with the boot flags –f and –v. You will probably need also npci=0x2000 or npci=0x3000. If you have NVIDIA graphics, use “nvdisable=1” you may also need “GraphicsEnabler=No”, “GraphicsEnabler=Yes”, “PCIRootUID=1”, or “ -x”. If that does not help, post to this sub-reddit or post to the AMD OS X forums. If you have done everything right, you should boot into the OS X installer. From here, you need to go to the top and click the “Utilities” tab, then, choose “Disk Utility” from the drop down menu. You then need to format you hard drive or partition it in the Mac OS Extended (Journeled) format.
Also make sure your partition scheme is set to GUID Partition Table. After that, you are ready to install. After you install, boot back into the OS X installer, OR, if you have Windows installed on another hard drive or partition, boot into that and install Macdrive. This will allow you to view HFS+ formatted hard drives on windows. You need to copy your kernel, so if you are in the OS X installer, go to terminal and type in this (leave out the quotation marks and fill in your volume names): “cp /Volumes/”Your USB Drives Name, put quotes around it if the name has spaces in it”/(your kernel’s directory) /Volumes/”Name of your drive that OS X is installed on”/System/Library/Kernels(This is only for Yosemite and El Capitan, if you have Mavericks or below the machkernel goes In the root of the hard drive)Now you are ready to boot into the OS X install. Select your OS X drive from your boot loader and boot with the same boot flags as you did in the installer. As long as you did everything correctly, you should boot right into the OS X welcome screen. From here you can set up your hackintosh, sign into the app store, and set up your user.
Still, you are far from done. You now need to install all of your appropriate drivers which can be found in the Multibeast Post Installation tool. For some reason, Multicast did not work for me, so I had to manually install the drivers.
If this happens to you, go to the Multibeast.app and select “Show package contents”. Then click resources and you will see all of the packages that contain all of the drivers that your are usually able to install in Multibeast. Now that you have drivers, you are set to go and install all of your apps and set up your new Mac the way you like.Note to AMD FX users: There are currently some graphical glitches in El capitan that are only affecting FX users, a fix is being worked on.
